On October 14th, the BannersAgainstPoverty will be launching 500m of banners along the St Kilda foreshore. Teams of people to help hold up the banners are being sought, so if you are interested, email banner.group@gmail.com
If you wish to see the banners, the event starts at 10am.
October 17th is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and the Global White Band Day. On this day, millions of people around the world will take part in actions under the slogan "Stand Up and Speak Out". Make sure you get hold of a White Band to show your support.

Face Up To Poverty
As part of the Make Poverty History campaign, in cooperation with the Zero Seven Road Trip and Optus, there is a photo petition being run called "Face Up To Poverty".
It aims to put a face behind the names that are usually written on petitions, to give extra impact to the politicians in charge of our international aid contributions. It is aiming to get 70,000 people Facing Up to Poverty by July 2007 - and you can be part of it!
All you need to do is take a photo, possibly with a Make Poverty History theme - whether that be a white armband, a banner, a homemade sign or something other - and MMS it to 044733FACE, or upload it at the website. Take as many photos as you can - of yourself, family, friends, workmates - anyone who is willing.
Check out the Face Up to Poverty website for more information.
